Tata IPL 2025 Resumes May 17: Countdown to Final Begins! | Winexch

The highly anticipated Tata IPL 2025 is set to resume this Saturday, May 17, with a blockbuster clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Bengaluru, as officially confirmed by the BCCI on May 12. With 17 matches scheduled across six cities, the league stage will conclude on May 27, followed by the playoffs leading into the grand finale on June 3. This resumption throws open several playoff possibilities, sparking intense Tata IPL 2025 match predictions. Teams like RCB, DC, LSG, and MI are currently battling neck and neck for the remaining playoff spots, making every match from here on a virtual knockout. Fantasy fans and prediction platforms are already speculating outcomes, especially around in-form squads like Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans, while keeping a close eye on key fixtures such as MI vs DC and LSG vs RCB.

According to the BCCI’s official statement, the decision to resume the tournament was made after “extensive consultations with government and security agencies, and with all key stakeholders.” The league was suspended following rising tensions along the India-Pakistan border due to Operation Sindoor, which also led to the cancellation of the PBKS vs DC match in Dharamsala on May 8. With security concerns now addressed, the BCCI has finalized a revised schedule comprising 17 matches across Bengaluru, Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad. Notably, the playoff venues, including those for Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2, and the final, remain undecided and will be announced soon.

Here’s a quick look at the revised schedule: the action begins on May 17 with RCB hosting KKR in Bengaluru. The first Sunday double-header is on May 18 with RR facing PBKS in Jaipur at 3:30 PM, followed by DC vs GT at 7:30 PM in Delhi. Other high-stakes fixtures include CSK vs RR in Delhi (May 20), MI vs DC in Mumbai (May 21), and RCB vs SRH in Bengaluru (May 23). The final weekend before the playoffs will witness double action on May 25, featuring GT vs CSK in Ahmedabad and SRH vs KKR in Delhi. The league stage wraps up with LSG taking on RCB in Lucknow on May 27. The playoff matches begin with Qualifier 1 on May 29, the Eliminator on May 30, Qualifier 2 on June 1, and the grand final on June 3.

Interestingly, only two double-headers have been scheduled, both falling on Sundays. This adjustment likely ensures player recovery and travel between venues, as the tournament resumes in a compact 18-day window. The BCCI has decided against hosting matches in Chennai, Hyderabad, and Mullanpur, despite earlier speculations that southern venues might be prioritized for security reasons. As a result, teams like Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Punjab Kings will not play any further matches at their traditional home grounds. CSK’s final game, a May 20 fixture against Rajasthan Royals, will be hosted in Delhi, while SRH will conclude their campaign with a match against KKR on May 25, also in Delhi.

As for Punjab Kings, they’ve been assigned Jaipur as their new home base. The previously abandoned game against Delhi Capitals from May 8 has been rescheduled for May 24 in Jaipur. The franchise will also play its remaining fixtures against RR and MI at the same venue, ensuring no matches are held in Mullanpur or Dharamsala for the rest of the season. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians, who remain in playoff contention, will host Delhi Capitals in their final league game at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on May 21.

With the IPL resuming after an unexpected break, a major challenge for teams will be the reassembly of their full squads. Several overseas players had returned home amid security uncertainty, and while efforts are being made to bring them back, their participation remains uncertain due to international commitments. This is especially critical for players from Australia and South Africa, as both nations are set to clash in the World Test Championship (WTC) final starting June 11 — barely a week after the IPL 2025 final. Key Test-bound players may either pull out early or manage their workload cautiously during the remaining IPL games.

As the league resumes, fans can expect high-octane clashes, unpredictable outcomes, and playoff drama right up until the final match.
